There are over 55 sports clubs in the City of Maribyrnong, with the best known being the AFL’s Western Bulldogs Football Club. Other sports include soccer, cricket, tennis, archery, baseball, hockey, lacrosse, martial arts, rowing, rugby, gridiron and trugo.
Through the Access for All Abilities program, Council also provides information on programs and facilities suitable for people with different abilities.
Western Bulldogs
The Western Bulldogs are the proud, tough and gritty AFL team, whose home is located at the E.J. Whitten Oval in Footscray. In 2011, they have 32,000 members and 33,000 Facebook fans. They pride themselves on being the Community Club of the AFL, and honour this commitment by building resources, achieving goals and educating people to make a positive difference for all.
